You’ve decided to embark on a job search or you are seriously considering an opportunity a recruiter has presented to you.  Achieving maximum career growth and advancement involves making some decisions and taking some risks.  Knowing where you are going and why, will guide you towards choices that lead to a rich and satisfying career.  So before you start your job search, examine your motives and ask yourself some questions:

What are my ultimate career goals?  Where do I want to be 5 years from now? 10 years from now?  Your career goals should be a specific job in a specific industry such as, VP of Operations, Director of Geology, etc. Can I work toward those goals by staying in my current position?  If not, what kind of position or company would help me achieve my goals? Am I promotable at my current company?  What is the potential upward mobility? Have I been passed up for a promotion I feel I deserved? Are my achievements recognized? Is money an issue? Is relocation or travel and issue? Do I feel challenged? Do I feel I am learning and developing in my current position? Are my company’s values and philosophies compatible with my own?

Recruiters can be an outstanding resource in your job search and career development.  We can help you identify your strong points effectively, perfect your interviewing skills, and introduce you to companies and opportunities you didn’t know existed.

At KS Energy Search Group, we know that high-quality candidate are our greatest asset and we would like for you to know what to expect from us:

  • Your candidacy and resume will be held in strict confidence. We will NEVER submit your resume without your expressed permission.
  • We will take time to fully understand your career goals, preferences and background. The more we know about you the better job we can do in screening opportunities on your behalf.
  • We will always be straight forward and honest. We recognize that today’s candidates may be tomorrow’s clients and we are proud of the fact that most of our business is repeat business.
  • We value your time and understand the difficulties in takings calls and scheduling interviews while you are employed. We will do everything we can to make this process as smooth and convenient as possible for you.

Communication is the foundation of a recruiter’s relationship with a candidate.  Here are a few things we would like for you to do to keep the lines open and to ensure a smooth process:

  • Stay in touch and available. Once you have made the decision to pursue an opportunity, it is essential that we are able to get in touch with you quickly to exchange information or feedback or to schedule an interview. Make sure your recruiter has all contact information: email address, cell and home numbers and can reach you within hours if needed.
  • Get in touch with the people you will use as your references and make sure they are willing and available to talk about you. It often takes a while to track down old contacts and employers: take the time to find them before you start interviewing and let them know that you would like to use them as a reference.  Make sure their contact numbers are up to date. You do not want to hold up a great offer because a recruiter had to spend a week trying to get your reference on the phone.
  • Let us know who has your resume. Your chances of getting hired rarely increase with multiple submissions through different channels. Such duplication of     efforts does nothing to enhance your credibility or ours. Let your recruiter know with whom you’ve interviewed and what the outcome was so they can discuss with the potential employer and head-off any problems.
  • Be prepared to act quickly. If there is any reason you would not be able to start your new job within 2-3 weeks after an offer is make, let your recruiter know.
